UP Publishers and Authors invites the public to the 4th edition of Authors’ Book Day

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – This weekend you have the opportunity to support writers from across the Upper Peninsula.

The 4th edition of the Authors’ Day Book Fair will welcome over 20 authors to sell and read excerpts from their published books.

The UP Publishers and Authors association is organizing the presale with free admission for the public. All genres will be available, from self-help and guides to children’s books and poetry.

Local author Roslyn McGrath says the UP needs more events to support local writers.

“I’m not sure people realize how much talent we have at UP when it comes to writing,” McGrath says. “There aren’t that many events that really showcase the UP writers.”

Gretchen Preston, author of children’s books, says supporting local authors is pretty straightforward.

“The best way to promote local artists is to read our books,” says Preston. “And if you like a book, tell your friends about it and review it on the author’s website.”

Campfire Coworks is organizing the book sale this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
